BDAFA WPL ball 2023

Round eight of the Umbro Women’s Premier League competition could potentially see some table movements as second and third play fourth and fifth this weekend.

Our round eight match of the round sees East Bankstown second win in six games as they take on Revesby Workers White who come off a bye looking to find their best form once again this season.

Elsewhere, Revesby Workers Maroon will look to go equal on points with Thistle at the top of the ladder as they host Birrong Sports at Padstow Park.

Georges River Thistle have the bye this round.

Match of the Round: East Bankstown vs Revesby Workers White, 4th June 3pm @ Crest Sporting Complex

Previous Meeting: Revesby Workers White 3-2 East Bankstown – Rd 3, 2023

East Bankstown were unable to finish their chances as they drew 0-0 to Birrong last weekend while Revesby Workers White are fresh coming off a bye in round 7.

There was plenty of action when these two sides met in round 3 this season as three quick goals by Revesby White in the first 15 minutes guided them to a 3-2 victory over East Bankstown.

East Bankstown are 3rd on the competition ladder, however, teams below them are starting to catch up as they have only won one of their past five fixtures.

East Bankstown’s attack has let them down in recent weeks having only scored one goal in their past two matches. They proved last weekend that they create chances going forward, however, this weekend they will need to be more clinical when they find shooting chances.

Chiara Nohra almost sparked a comeback in their round three fixture when she scored two goals to bring the score back to 3-2. She will hope to be the launchpad for success for East Bankstown this weekend.

Revesby Workers White are another team that have struggled to find form in recent weeks having not won in their past three matches.

Defence has been an issue for the Workers side having conceded nine goals in their past three matches. They will look to work harder as a unit when East Bankstown begins to get into their half.

Revesby’s Karen Bennet has been their main outlet in attack so far this season having scored six out of their ten goals this season, look for her to be a constant threat once again in this match.

East Bankstown are looking to keep up with the top two teams, while Revesby Workers White could potentially drop to fifth if they don’t win this match; expect this match to be exciting as two sides looking to find form go head-to-head.

Revesby Workers Maroon vs Birrong Sports, 4th June 3pm @ Padstow Park

Previous Meeting: Birrong Sports 1-6 Revesby Workers Maroon – Rd 3, 2023

Revesby Workers Maroon come off an important 2-2 draw against Georges River Thistle, while Birrong Sports were strong in defence as they held out East Bankstown in their 0-0 draw.

Revesby Workers Maroon showed off their talent across the park as they had six different goal scorers in their 6-1 victory against Birrong Sports in Round three this season.

A win this weekend for Revesby Maroon could see them go equal on points with Thistle at the top of the ladder which will have them even more determined to pick up the three points this weekend.

Revesby Maroon have proven goal scorers all over the pitch this season, however, Revesby will be look for an improved defensive performance once again this weekend as they have conceded the second most goals in the competition so far this season.

If Revesby can get on top early in this match as they did in round three, they will look to score as many goals as possible to chase down Thistle’s for and against.

Birrong are unbeaten in their last two matches; however, they now need to look to turn draws into victories if they are to climb off the bottom of the ladder.

Birrong will look to go forward quicker in wide areas if they can start to create more chances in front of goal as they are in search of a consistent goal scorer this season.

Birrong’s defence has been strong over the past two weeks, and they will need more of the same as defence will be the key to their success as they are up against the best attacking side in the competition so far.

If Birrong can hold out Revesby’s attack early and look to score on a quick counter through quick transition, they could snag a result in this match.

Revesby Maroon are chasing top spot while Birrong are looking to climb off the bottom the ladder, a winner emerging from this contest could prove vital for both sides seasons.
