Match of the Round: Georges River Thistle vs Central Sydney Wolves, 9th June 8:30pm @ Padstow Park

Previous Meeting: Central Sydney Wolves 0-2 Georges River Thistle – Rd 3, 2023

Georges River Thistle will come into this match after two weeks off as they had a bye in round 11 as they take on Central Sydney Wolves who conceded two early in their 2-0 loss to Padstow Hornets last weekend.

The last time these two sides met was in round 3 of this season where Georges River Thistle scored two early goals as they held off Central Sydney Wolves attack to win the game 2-0.

Georges River Thistle will look to come out firing early in this match which looks to be very important in terms of making the finals this season.

Thistle’s number 19, Raywat Harichaikul has been a standout in Thistle’s past two matches having netted three goals and helped them to an important victory in round 10 against Padstow United. Expect Thistle to continue getting Raywat Harichaikul more involved in matches as he creates havoc for defenders in and around the 18-yard box.

Georges River Thistle will look to get back to their defensive best again Central Sydney Wolves as they have not been able to keep a clean sheet since their round four victory against Bass Hill Rangers.

Following two weeks off, Georges River Thistle will be glad to be back in action; look for defence to be their focus this week as they look to push back up into the top five of the table.

Central Sydney Wolves will be eager to get back to winning ways after suffering the first loss in their last four matches as they were unable to score in a 2-0 loss to Padstow Hornets.

Central Sydney Wolves first focus will be against the Kirrawee Kangaroos in the round of sixteen in the FNSW State Cup this Sunday.

Central Sydney Wolves will look to get to their attacking best when they meet with Thistle in Round 12. The Wolves have proven they have attacking threats all over the pitch as they will look to utilise their pace in wide areas to create attacking chances against Thistle.

A loss could be damaging for the Wolves; it could drop them as low as 6th place if other results go against them; it is critical they start to pick up a victory in this match.

Thistle can jump Central Sydney Wolves on the ladder, while the Wolves look to extend the gap between themselves, and 6th place to 5 points; expect a spirited performance from the hosts as the visitors look to be clinical in their pursuit of victory.

When these two sides met in round three this season, Panania Diggers scored five goals in the first half to win the game 5-1.

With Bankstown Sports Strikers having the bye this round, Panania Diggers are afforded the opportunity to go to the top of table with a win against Revesby Workers this weekend.

Panania Diggers Joshua Adams has looked to be their most consistent attacking threat this season scoring three goals in their win last week as well as a brace in their round three fixture against Revesby Workers. Adams will hope to be the launchpad for success for Panania.

Panania Diggers will look to take momentum from their first clean sheet last weekend since round four as they continue to be one of the best defensive teams this season.

The team has scored eleven goals combined from their last three; look for them to continue to be dangerous up front as they look to go top of the ladder this weekend.

Although Revesby Workers had start to pick up some good results for the first time this season, their 10-0 loss to Yagoona Lions last week has taken all their positive momentum away.

Revesby Workers have an equally as difficult task this weekend as they take on 2nd on the competition ladder as they look to bounce back off a poor result.

Revesby Workers will look to get back to the basics this weekend as effort plays on and off the ball will be crucial this weekend if they are to get a result this weekend.

The Workers are chasing progress while the Diggers are chasing the top of the table; expect to see the Workers utilise their effort and determination as they chase an improved result, while the Diggers come out firing looking to move into top spot.

Yagoona Lions will play their fourth straight game at home this weekend as they boast a 100%-win record at O’neill Park this season and they will be confident they can continue that win streak this weekend.

Padstow United are on a winning draught and their finals hopes are slowing beginning to slip away.

A win for Padstow United could prove pivotal in the context of their season as they now sit 6 points off the top five of the competition.

United’s Maceon Goder has stepped up in the absence of Rafa Coutinho with two goals in his past two matches, look for Goder and John Martinez to link up upfront in a game that could see a lot of attacking opportunities.

With one side in from and the other struggling, expect plenty of goals as the two best attacking sides in the competition go head-to-head.

Mike Cklamovski looks to be key for his side once again in this match having scored eight goals this season including two goals against Bass Hill when they met earlier in the season.

The Hornets will start this match with high intensity; if they can grab an early goal, they will be confident in their defence to help them see out another win.

9th place Bass Hill Rangers are still in search of their first win of the season.

Bass Hill Rangers are still looking to find some confidence in front of goal having only scored 1 goal in their past four matches. The Rangers need to find a consistent goal scorer if they are to start to get some positive results.

The Rangers haven’t lacked any effort despite not winning a game all season and expect them to still come out with energy and conviction as a win could see them jump off the bottom of the ladder.

Padstow Hornets are chasing the top teams on the ladder while Bass Hill are chasing progress, expect a strong Hornets side to be clinical while a fighting Bass Hill side look to cause an upset.
