Some teams are finding form while others will look to pick themselves back up as the Umbro Women’s Premier League competition enters Round Three.

The Match of the Round sees Birrong on the hunt for their first win of the season as they host Revesby Workers Maroon looking to bounce back after a devastating loss.

Elsewhere, Georges River Thistle will look for back-to-back wins as they host East Bankstown Yellow looking for their first points of the season, while it is a top 2 clash between Revesby Workers White and East Bankstown Red who are both undefeated to start the season.

Sunday 23rd April, 2023

Match of the Round: Birrong Sports vs Revesby Workers Maroon, 3pm @ Padstow Park                                                                                                                                        Previous Meeting: Revesby Workers 1-4 Birrong Sports - AAL1 Finals, 2022

Birrong Sports are still on the hunt for their first win of the season as they take on a Revesby Workers Maroon who come off a big loss to Georges River Thistle as they play at Padstow Park.

These two sides met last in Week One of the All-Age Ladies One finals series last year, which Birrong Sports took out 4-1.

Birrong Sports have looked strong in defence in their opening first two games having only conceded a goal in each of their opening games.

However, with the least goals scored so far this season, with only one goal in their opening two fixtures, Birrong Sports will look to improve in the attacking half and create more chances if they are to get a much-needed result in this fixture.

Birrong have conceded first in both of their opening two fixtures. If they are to score first in this game, they could go a long way to winning this match.

Workers Maroon started the season in fantastic fashion, however, a shock 7-1 loss to Georges River Thistle has left them needing an important 3-points if they are to stay towards the top of the table.

Workers Maroon have proven they can score goals with nine goals in two games; however, they will be looking to be stronger and more structured in defence, so they do not have a repeat of last week.

If Workers attack can click, with their midfield and defence holding up, they could be on their way to their second win of the season.

With two strong teams going head-to-head, expect to see a tactically challenging match where either side could come out on top.

Georges River Thistle vs East Bankstown Yellow, 3pm @ Coleman Park

This is the first meeting between these two clubs.

Georges River Thistle look for back-to-back wins in the competition as they take on a determined East Bankstown Yellow looking for their first points of the season.

Georges River Thistle showed their firepower again last week as they picked up a 7-1 win against Revesby Workers Maroon.

Georges River Thistle suffered a 4-3 defeat to Narellan Rangers Soccer Club in Round one of the Sapphire Cup on Wednesday Night and they will be hungry to get back winning ways.

Georges River Thistle have proven to be strong in attack as they have scored 8-goals in their opening two matches, however, with a few new signings in defence for 2023, they will be looking for their first clean sheet this season.

Easts Yellow have been unable to secure points in their opening two matches to start the season, however, they were much improved in their game last week against second place Revesby Workers White and they will be looking to improve again against tough opposition.

Easts look to be a resilient side competing in games week on week.

Their second half performances will be a priority this week as they have struggled to keep their opposition at bay in the second half of their matches.

If they can control the match and not give up easy chances, they could do well to contain Thistle and create an entertaining contest.

Expect this to be a match filled with chances and hard tackling as both sides look to win the first meeting between these two sides.

Revesby Workers White vs East Bankstown Red, 3pm @ Kelso Park      Previous Meeting: Revesby Workers 1-4 East Bankstown – AAL Rd 1, 2022

Revesby Workers White and East Bankstown Red go head-to-head in a top of the table clash as both sides are undefeated to start the season.

The last time these two sides met was in Round 1 of the All-Age Ladies competition where East Bankstown comfortable defeated Revesby Workers 4-1.

Workers White proved they are more the capable this season after making the step up from the All-Age Ladies Division two competition last season.

Although going down 2-1 early last week to Easts Yellow, Revesby fought their way back against a 10 women Easts to win the game 4-2.

The Workers will need to be firing in attack if they are to breakthrough a strong Easts defence who has only conceded one goal this season.

Easts Red deservingly lead the competition to start the season after back-to-back wins against 2022 grand finalists.

They have been the strongest defensive side to start the season only conceding 1 goal, however, they will look to create more chances in front of goal if they are to dominate teams this season.

After losing mid-week in the Sapphire Cup in a mixed East Bankstown team between their Easts Red and Yellow, they will be more then determined to get back to winning ways.

With two undefeated sides going head-to-head, expect this to be an encounter with plenty of fight that could go either way.
