Match of the Round: Padstow Hornets 0-0 Panania Diggers                                           Reserve Grade Score: Padstow Hornets 0-1 Panania Diggers

The match of the round saw Padstow Hornets and Panania Diggers split the points in what was an exciting affair.

With both sides starting off their season unbeaten coming into round four, both sides started strong as they both aimed to continue their unbeaten runs.

This would look to be a difficult match on paper for Padstow Hornets as they were without their in-form attacker Mike Cklamovski this fixture who had scored most of their goals in their first three rounds.

Panania looked very strong early into the game with most of the possession and creating numerous chances going forward with Padstow Hornets defence holding up strong.

The first big chance would come Panania’s way late into the first half when they were awarded a corner kick. The ball was floated into the box with a clearing header coming from the Hornet’s defence. The ball fell to Panania’s Josh Bull who would strike a volley with his left foot from the edge of the box which struck the crossbar and flew over the goal.

Both sides went into halftime locked up at 0-0.

The next big chance of the game came Panania’s way once again as their striker, Nicholas Vertsonis found himself through on goal as he aimed to chip the goalkeeper with his shot missing to the left of the post.

In the 70th minute, Panania’s Josh Bull found himself once again with a chance to score as the ball fell to him on the penalty spot from a corner before his shot went straight Padstow Hornets Goalkeeper Mitchell Ashley.

Moments later one of Padstow Hornets midfielders made space for himself on the edge of the box with his right-footed shot drilled to the top right corner which was saved spectacularly by Panania’s Logan Hession.

The game would not see another big chance created with the score ending 0-0.

Although we did not see any goals in this match, it was definitely an exciting affair highlighted by some outstanding defence and spectacular keeping by both sides.

Georges River Thistle 2-0 Bass Hill Rangers                                                                Reserve Grade score: Georges River Thistle 1-2 Bass Hill Rangers

Georges River Thistle were able to claim all three points against Bass Hill Rangers as Thistle continue some good form as they win back-to-back games after a poor start to the season, while Bass Hill are still looking for their first points of the season despite playing well in all their games.

The games were extremely end-to end in the first half with decent chances coming to both sides with both sides goalkeeper proving to be very important in the first half of the game.

Bass Hill would continue an incredible run of all their opening four games going into half-time at 0-0 with this game proving to be no different.

In the second half both sides would continue to look for the winning goal with Bass Hill looking the more likely.

However, in the 80th minute of the match, Thistle’s number 30, Rocco Domine looked to have scored the winner as his shot found the back of the net.

Bass Hill wouldn’t give up as they pushed to find the equalizer in the last 10 minutes of the match. However, their hopes of finding an equalizer would be lost as Thistle found a counter attack before Prakasit scored in the 89th minute to give his side a 2-0 advantage and seal the three points.

A well fought match by both sides with late drama giving Georges River Thistle the win.

Padstow United 13-2 Revesby Workers                                                                          Reserve Grade Score: Padstow United 2-0 Revesby Workers

Padstow United ultimately dominated Revesby Workers with a 13-2 victory which was a very disappointing game for Revesby Workers as they are in a rebuild year with many injuries to their line-up.

Revesby Workers opened the score early with a goal in the 1st minute by Daniel Carr to surprisingly give Revesby a 1-0 advantage.

However, it wouldn’t take too long before United attacker John Martinez would score in the 6th minute to make the game 1-1, followed by a 9th minute goal by Josiah Newar to make it 2-1 and give Padstow United the advantage.

Padstow attacker Rafa Coutinho would score in the 17th and 40th minute to make it 4-1 to United with a goal on the stroke of halftime by Bojan Hadzic to make it 4-2 going into halftime.

The second half would be very one-sided with Padstow United scoring nine goals.

Rafa Coutinho would score 4 goals in the second half which saw him with 6 goals in the game, while John Martinez would score 5 goals in the second half which saw him also score 6 goals in the game.

The game would end 13-2 to Padstow United which was a very positive result for them as they picked up their first win of the season.

We hope to see Revesby Workers not drop their heads as they continue to search for their first points in 2023.

Greenacre Eagles 2-5 Yagoona Lions                                                                               Reserve Grade Score: Greenacre Eagles 0-3 Yagoona Lions

Yagoona Lions claimed the three points against Yagoona lions as they made it 4-in-a-row and now sit clear at the top of the table as Greenacre Eagles are still in search for their first points of the season.

It was an exciting encounter with lots of goals as Yagoona found the first goal of the game in the 28th minute as Greenacre Eagles Billy Nunes turned the ball into his own net to give Yagoona Lions a 1-0 advantage.

Moments later, Yagoona’s Adrian Ristevski fired a ball into the area which found Ahmed Abdellatef at the back post who easily found the back of the net to give his side a 2-0 advantage.

However, Greenacre Eagles did not drop their heads as they were in search of a goal and in the 43rd minute of the match they were awarded a penalty which their number 7 Ismail Hadlife converted the penalty to make it 2-1 going into half time.

Greenacre Eagles would continue their attacking momentum into the second half as they were able to lock the scores up in the 53rd minute through a goal by Taylor Saghabi.

With the scores level and both sides looking to find a winner, both sides started to create multiple chances in front of goal with Yagoona having the better of the chances.

In the 58th minute of the match Yagoona would find themselves back in front as their number 10, Nick Cvetkosvki curled his effort into the back of the net to give his side the advantage once again.

It wouldn’t be too long before Yagoona’s Adrian Ristevski found his side 4th goal in the 73rd minute before their number 9 Joshua Briskoski made it 5 in the 81st minute.

The game would end 5-2 with Yagoona Lions taking home the three points after a great performance by both sides with Yagoona being the better team on the day.

Bankstown Sports Strikers 0-1 Central Sydney Wolves                                                   Reserve Grade Score: Bankstown Sports Strikers 4-0 Central Sydney Wolves

Central Sydney Wolves proved that they have turned their season around from 2022 as they upset Bankstown Sports Strikers in a 1-0 win.

In this previous fixture last year, Bankstown Sports Strikers won the game 16-1, so this was a tremendous effort by Central Sydney Wolves to get the win.

The first half looked to be all Central Sydney Wolves as they applied to a lot of pressure to Bankstown Sports Strikers back line, however, the Strikers were able to hold out the pressure to keep the scores locked up at half time.

With the scores level at halftime and the Strikers not showing their best so far in this fixture, they looked to come out firing in the second half.

The strikers looked to control the game in the second half and create numerous chances which they were unable to convert and it was just a matter of when they would find the winner.
